Budget Track, Volume 1, Track 3
This issue of Budget Track came out at a time when the country witnessed numerous significant developments, which range from the General Elections 2004 having been fought mainly over the issue of economic development to the presentation of the first budget of the newly formed United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at the Centre. The present issue of Budget track takes up the Election Manifestos of three major political forces (the Congress, the CPI (M) and the National Democratic Alliance), the Common Minimum Programme of the UPA, and the Union Budget 2004-05 of the UPA Government for discussion, focusing on the implications for the poor and marginalised sections of the population.
