In our attempt to engage with the revenue and tax side of the budgets over the past couple of years, we realised that such attempts will not find fruition unless there is adequate mobilisation and support from among the civil society, particularly the grassroots organisations, and other stakeholders like the academia, media and legislators to work towards a more progressive, equitable and just tax system in the country. This led us to bring out this special issue of Budget Track focused on the key concerns relating to taxation in India.
